The Dreaming Tree: A Unique Rooftop Vegetarian Café in HSR Layout with a Movable Glass Roof
A peaceful rooftop café in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, designed around a tree and covered with a movable glass roof, serving a pure vegetarian menu along with wine options.
Bengaluru’s café culture is constantly evolving, but occasionally a place stands out not just for its food, but for the experience of the space itself.
Located in HSR Layout, The Dreaming Tree is a rooftop café that blends architecture, nature, and relaxed dining in a way that feels refreshing for the city. With its movable glass rooftop, greenery-filled interiors, and pure vegetarian menu, the café offers something slightly different from the usual urban café experience.
For those exploring rooftop cafés in HSR Layout or unique vegetarian cafés in Bengaluru, this spot quietly stands out.
A Rooftop Café Designed Around a Tree
One of the most striking elements of The Dreaming Tree is its thoughtful architectural design.
At the centre of the rooftop space stands a large tree-inspired design element that rises through the café structure. The entire seating area has been thoughtfully designed around this feature, making it the visual focal point of the rooftop.
Above the seating area is a movable glass rooftop, allowing sunlight to fill the space during the day while still keeping the environment comfortable for guests.
The combination of glass panels, wooden furniture, natural textures, and plants creates a setting that feels open, bright, and connected to nature, even in the middle of a busy neighbourhood like HSR.

Ambience: Calm, Open, and Full of Natural Light
The rooftop ambience is where the café truly shines.
The space features solid wooden tables, cane chairs, plant-lined corners, and subtle artistic wall illustrations, giving the café a warm and relaxed character.
Because of the glass roof structure, natural light spreads evenly across the space during the day, creating a bright yet peaceful dining atmosphere.
Despite being located in one of Bengaluru’s active neighbourhoods, the rooftop manages to feel calm and spacious, making it a good spot for brunch, casual meetings, or slow afternoon café visits.

What We Tried
During our visit, we explored a few dishes from the menu.
Italian Sandwich on Focaccia
This grilled focaccia sandwich comes layered with pesto, grilled cottage cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes, served alongside fries and a fresh salad. The focaccia had a crisp grilled texture while remaining soft inside. The pesto added a light herby flavour that balanced well with the cottage cheese filling.
Saute Mushroom and Broccoli
A simple yet flavourful dish of button mushrooms and broccoli sautéed in butter, garlic, and herbs. The mushrooms absorbed the butter and garlic nicely, while the broccoli added freshness and texture.
ABC Coldness Juice
A refreshing cold-pressed blend of apple, beetroot, and carrot. The apple brings natural sweetness while the beetroot and carrot add depth and earthiness, making it feel light yet energising.
Tiramisu Gelato
The meal ended with a Tiramisu Gelato, a creamy scoop inspired by the classic Italian dessert. The coffee notes were smooth and balanced, making it a satisfying dessert.

A Pure Vegetarian Café with Wine Menu
One notable aspect of The Dreaming Tree HSR is that the entire food menu is pure vegetarian, making it an appealing option for people looking for vegetarian café experiences in Bengaluru.
At the same time, the café also offers a wine menu, creating a relaxed rooftop dining option for guests visiting in the evening.
The team is also planning to introduce a Jain menu soon, which will make the café more accessible for guests looking for Jain-friendly dining options.

Why The Dreaming Tree Stands Out
What makes The Dreaming Tree interesting is not just the food but the overall experience of the space.
The combination of:
• a movable glass rooftop
• a tree-inspired installation at the centre of the café
• wooden seating and natural interiors
• green plants spread across the rooftop
creates a café environment that feels calm and unique compared to many urban cafés.
